Introduction

An application has been submitted to East Ayrshire Council to develop the Polquhairn Wind Farm near Sinclairston in East Ayrshire. The planning application can be found here (Ref: 14/0860/PP).

A comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been undertaken for the Polquhairn Wind Farm. The results of this are available to view within the Environmental Statement which is available for public viewing at the link above.

The Non-Technical Summary is available to view in our downloads section below, along with the site location and turbine location maps.

Community

A Community Liaison Group (CLG) has been established with members of the project team and representatives from Drongan, Rankinston and Stair Community Council, Ochiltree Community Council, Patna Community Council, Stair Community Association and Rankinston Community Association. The CLG meets on a bi-monthly basis and allows us to provide CLG members with information and updates on the proposals and to ensure that the proposal for the Polquhairn Wind Farm takes account of the local community's views.

For further information regarding the community, please contact us on 0131 243 9100 or via email to uk@brookfieldrenewable.com.

Keeping You Informed

As part of our extensive community engagement programme, we held two rounds of public exhibitions. The first round of exhibitions took place on the 19th, 20th and 21st of June 2013 over three days in Drongan, Patna and Rankinston. Information about the proposals was displayed and members of the project team were on hand to answer questions from the local community. All three exhibitions were well attended. The information that was on display at the exhibitions (Exhibition Boards- June 2013) is available to view below in the downloads section.

The second round of public exhibitions were held on the 10th, 11th and 12th of June in Drongan, Rankinston and Ochiltree. Members of the local community could view the updated proposals for the Polquhairn Wind Farm, with members of the project team on hand to provide further detail. The information that was on display (Exhibition Boards- June 2014) can be viewed in the downloads section below.

Two project newsletters have been distributed to residential properties within 5 Kilometres of the proposals. These provided information on the proposals and details of the public exhibitions. These were distributed in June 2013 and May 2014 and can be viewed in the downloads section below.

Members of the project team attended the Drongan Vibrant Communties Event in May 2013 and the Patna Vibrant Communities Event in October 2014. Information on the Polquhairn Wind Farm was displayed and we were available to answer any questions from the local communities.

Good Neighbour

We are committed to supporting local communities close to the Polquhairn Wind Farm and we are keen to support local community projects wherever we can.

Support has been lent to a Hayhill and Sinclairston community initiative which will see the creation of a new walking route between the East Ayrshire communities by funding the purchase and installation of a bench on the new route.  A photo of the bench can be viewed below.

A donation of £500 was also given to both Patna Community Council and Drongan, Rankinston and Stair Community Council to support their 2014 Christmas Lights. Photos of the Project Manager presenting the Community Council’s with the donations can be viewed below.

We are delighted to have supported a joint initiative between Ayr College and Little Mill Primary School in Rankinston with the building of a shed for Little Mill's new eco garden, which was unveiled at Mill Fest on the 18th June 2015- see photo below.

We would welcome suggestions of how we can be a good neighbour.
