Community Benefits & Local Ownership

A Community Liaison Group (CLG) has been created to ensure that the proposed development involves local people and takes account of their concerns. You can find out more about your CLG members here. CLG minutes are available to download below. For further information regarding community development, please contact us on 0131 243 9100 or via email to uk@brookfieldrenewable.com.

We will pay £5,000 per MW of installed capacity into a community development fund annually over the lifetime of the wind farm.

To ensure compliance with the Scottish Government's publication 'Good Practice Principles for Shared Ownership of Onshore Renewable Energy Developments', Brookfield has an offer in place whereby the local communities surrounding the project can take a stake of up to 30% in the Larbrax Wind Farm. This forms part of our ongoing desire to ensure our proposal will fully empower the surrounding communities to be involved in Scotland's renewable energy supply, and gain the associated long-term economic benefits.

Keeping You Informed

A first round of public exhibitions were held on the 15th and 16th of May in Portpatrick and Leswalt. The information that was on display at the exhibitions is available to view below.

As part of an extensive engagement programme, a seond round of public exhibitions took place on the 2 and 3 December in Portpatrick and Leswalt. The information that was presented to the local community is available in the downloads section below.

Good Neighbour

We are committed to supporting local communities close to our wind farm sites and we are keen to support local community projects wherever we can. In November 2013 we sponsored a renewables workshop, which was run by Rowanbank Environmental Education, at Leswalt Primary School. We also supported the Portpatrick Lifeboat Festival with a donation towards their fireworks display. We would welcome suggestions of how we can continue to be a good neighbour.

If you would like to add your details to our list of contractors please get in touch at uk@brookfieldrenewable.com  stating your local project.
