Moray Council today, 24 June, approved proposals by Brookfield Renewable UK Ltd (formerly PNE WIND UK Ltd), to develop a six turbine wind farm, located south-east of Dallas, Moray.

Brookfield Renewable UK Ltd has been working since 2013 to develop the proposals for Meikle Hill Wind Farm. The plans that were approved today will comprise six turbines with a tip height of 126.5 metres and a proposed generation capacity of 13.8MW.

Jamie Druitt, Project Manager at Brookfield Renewable UK Ltd, commented:

"It is greatly encouraging that council members have backed our proposals for Meikle Hill Wind Farm. The positive outcome today demonstrates that councillors have accepted the merits of our proposals and the work we have undertaken, with both the council and the community, to ensure that Meikle Hill Wind Farm is the best fit for the local area.

We would like to thank local residents for their continued support and engagement with the Meikle Hill project. We look forward to further developing our relationship throughout the construction and operation phases."

The plans were warmly welcomed by local residents, with a total of 65 letters of support being registered for the project. A telephone survey also revealed that there are significantly high levels of public support for the project within the immediate vicinity of Dallas- the closest village to the project.
