Meikle Hill Wind Farm Plans Submitted

Edinburgh based renewable energy developer, PNE WIND UK, has submitted a planning application to Moray Council for a 10-turbine wind farm near Dallas, following extensive consultation with the local community.

If consented, the plans will see the development of ten turbines with maximum tip height of 126.5m and an installed capacity of 23MW- which means the application could generate up to £115,000 per year for the local community over its twenty-five year lifetime and provide potential job opportunities during the construction phase for local contractors.

Gilbert Stevenson, Project Manager for PNE WIND UK commented:

"Following an extensive and encouraging community consultation programme we are pleased to be submitting our plans for Meikle Hill Wind Farm to Moray Council. We have worked closely with local residents and consultees to ensure that we could put forward proposals which are appropriate for the location and reflect the constructive feedback received throughout the development process.

"Over the last year, we have provided project information through two rounds of exhibitions, a project website, project newsletters and held regular meetings with the Community Liaison Group. I would like to thank local residents for their continues interest in our proposals and look forward to continuing our community involvment as our plans progress."

A spokesperson for the Meikle Hill Wind Farm Community Liaison Group said:

"PNE has worked closelt with the CLG and the local community at every step of the development process. Their approach to keeping the community informed has been excellent.

"The community has also benefited from PNE's sponsorship for a new gazebo for the Dallas Gala and support to establish a community trust that we hope will provide a long-lasting legacy for the area.

"We look forward to continuing to work closely with PNE as the project progresses through the planning process."
