Growing together to benefit all
The UK government has agreed a European Union legally binding target of 20% of the EU's energy consumption from renewable sources by 2020, with a proposed UK contribution of 15% of all our energy from renewables by 2020. This legally binding obligation means the race is on to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels via sustainable electricity generation if we want to meet our growing energy needs.
Wind power has the greatest potential to make a significant difference in our energy generation in the coming decade. The UK contains 40% of Europe's wind resource with Scotland holding 25% of this. It is not surprising that wind power is now the largest source of renewable electricity generation in the UK especially at a time when the worlds energy security is under threat and the price of oil seems to be ever increasing.
